Snehan

Dr. Suraj summarizes Snehan as purva-karma (pre-procedures) which help in liquefying the accumulated ama (toxins), in cooling the irritated dosha (basic body elements), in opening the blocked strotasa (body channels) and in lubricating the passages of mala (waste products). Effective Snehan adds to the effective results of the panch-karma .

ABHYANGA (Applying of Oil)

Dr. Suraj enlightens that, Abhyanga is an exceptional rhythmic massage, which intensely nourishes the complete body with huge amounts of warm herbal oil.

The importance is on lubricating and revitalizing the body, while clearing blocked flow of life-forces in your constitution. Abhyanga is the applying of oil all over the body as this promotes the penetration of oil deep into the body tissues, softening, and promoting suppleness of the muscles and joints. Impurities are loosened and separated from the cell structure.

Dr. Suraj Mirashi further adds that, Abhyanga is based on knowledge of the body's marma points. These are the vital points of the body where muscles, nerves, blood vessels, joints, ligaments, and bones meet (“the junctions of prana”).

MARMA MASSAGE

Marma massage involves a full body massage with warm medicated oil and stimulating or massaging the marma points on the body.Marma is a Sanskrit word which literally means hidden or secret. Dr. Suraj shares the ayurvedic secret that the human body has about 107 Marma Points. Marma massage stimulates or generates the energy resources and helps the flow of vital energy in the individual. It removes blockages form the marma points giving physical and psychological relaxation and strength.

 

PAADABHYANG (Foot Reflexology)

Paadabhyang is Foot Reflexology in Ayurveda and Doctor Suraj explains that this is stipulated Abhyanga (massage) for the feet only. It prevents roughness, crack, numbness and tiredness of the feet. It makes the feet strong and supple.

PAADAGHAT (Foot Pressure Massage)

Dr Suraj Mirashi explains that massage of the body done with the help of the feet is called Paadaghat or Foot Pressure Massage. This type of massage exerts the maximum pressure on a given point of the body. It is also called as reverse massage as the body massage is not done by hands but by the feet only. Dr. Suraj encourages Padaghat only a full body oil massage and after some physical exercise.

 

SNEHA AVAGAHA (Oil Hip Bath)

Ayurveda promotes Oil Hip Bath to rather than the common full body bath tub immersion. Dr. Suraj further clarifies that in a Hip bath only the spinal cord and the waist part of the body is immersed, but the bathing person sits still in the tub. In the sense of a therapeutic bath, a hip bath is supposed to promote healthy circulation and stimulate the digestive tract.
